Hello. Bonjour. 안녕하세요.

Welcome to Expat and the City

Welcome to my blog! I’m currently back in my home country of Canada, after being away for two years. Where was I? I was living abroad in South Korea teaching English with the EPIK Program (English Program in Korea).

What led me to leaving my life in Canada to move half way across the world was a thirst for adventure, a chance to do something new and outside my comfort zone, and to make my late father proud.

Expat and the City is here to give you a taste of the city life in Asia and beyond. Browse through my city guides and travel tips to the countries I have visited thus far, including my home away from home, Korea! The blog also provides advice for aspiring ESL teachers and a how-to on living the expat life.

If you have any questions, my inbox is always open! Drop me a line at info@expatandthecityblog.com.

Happy travels!

So glad you enjoyed both your stay in Korea and the idea of working abroad. It’s something I also got in to and to be honest ! never looked back. Living and working abroad is a challenge but the cultural rewards are enormous, I’d advise anyone to give it a go if they’re at a loose end. Going ‘home’ after a stint abroad would always invoke that sense of reverse culture shock I suppose they call it ! Happy travels !

I couldn’t have said it any better myself. Coming home has had its challanges, but I’m happy to see the familiar faces. I also miss Korea a lot and hope to go over there again in the future.

    Hi Sam,
Your experiences in Korea sound wonderful. I’m the editor of Pink Pangea (www.pinkpangea.com), and I’d like to know if you’d be interested in writing about your travels for the site. If so, get in touch at rachel@pinkpangea.com.
